In recent times, many movies have been making their digital debut within a month of their theatrical release. Indirectly, it made many moviegoers skip theatres and wait for the OTT release. Now, Telugu Film Producers Council took a crucial decision about it.
The Telugu Film Producers Council (TPFC) has passed a new mandate regarding the OTT deals for the theatrical releases. From July 1, 2022, onwards every theatrical release, which enters into the agreement with the OTT platforms, must enforce a theatrical window of 50 days before its digital debut.
The council thinks that it will bring back audiences to the theaters. It will also help audiences to experience movies on the big screen. We need to wait and see how far this will work.
