Actor Suhas’ recently released family entertainer, Writer Padmabhushan, has had a solid opening weekend in the Telugu states and the USA. Made on a shoestring budget of Rs 4 crore, the film managed to receive unanimous blockbuster reports from all quarters upon its release, and is now turning out to be a highly profitable project for its makers. Even the strategic and aggressive promotional campaign has helped the movie’s box office prospects.
In its first weekend, Writer Padmabhushan grossed over Rs 5 crore worldwide. In the US, the film has collected over a solid $200K so far, and is expected to have a long run at the box office. On the other hand, the film’s digital and satellite rights were sold to Zee Network prior to the theatrical release for a cool price that already landed the makers in profits.
Writer Padmabhushan’s makers themselves released the movie on commission basis in all the territories and are now enjoying massive profits. Adding to this, the makers are also getting fancy offers from other language producers who are keen on acquiring Writer Padmabhushan’s remake rights.
Directed by debutant Shanmukha Prashanth, the film is produced jointly under Chai Bisket Films and Lahari Films banners.
