The historic Malayalam survival drama, 2018, has now set a massive new record in Kerala. The inspiring drama has erased all the existing records and has emerged as the all-time highest grossing movie in Kerala. 2018 has collected Rs 80.11 crore in just 24 days since its release, and it has surpassed Mohanlal’s Pulimurugan (Rs 78.50 Cr) to claim the top spot.
2018 is also the highest grossing Malayalam movie of all-time, and is also the first-ever Malayalam movie to collect over Rs 150 crore gross. The film is still going strong at the box offices across Kerala, while the Telugu and Tamil versions too are doing quite well, bringing huge profits to their presenters.
2018 is inspired by the devastating 2018 Kerala floods and how thousands of Kerala youths and authorities overcame the calamity by helping each other. The Jude Anthany Joseph directorial starred Tovino Thomas, Kunchacko Boban, Asif Ali, Vineeth Sreenivasan, Tanvi Ram, Aparna and Lal in crucial roles. Venu Kunnappilly, CK Padma Kumar and Anto Joseph are the producers.
