There have been many sequel announcements lately, but only some of them are being materialized. A few opine that most of them are forced sequels just to cash in on the sequel trend. In a recent interview, producer Naga Vamsi was asked why a sequel to DJ Tillu was made in the first place.
Naga Vamsi stated, “Pushpa, Baahubali, and KGF sequels are a continuation of their predecessors. Everyone loved Tillu’s character in DJ Tillu. When the first part was released, the promotional content was targeted at youth. So, families didn’t go to theatres. When it was released on Aha, the film became a sensation. As people owned Siddhu in Tillu’s role immensely, we wanted to extend that character and provide more entertainment to the audience.”
Naga Vamsi further said, “We didn’t make Tillu Square just for the sake of doing a sequel. As Tillu’s character amused the viewers in a big manner, we wanted to increase the entertainment dosage. We took the initiation for the sequel. Our intention isn’t to make easy money. We spent two years on this movie.”
