Vijay Deverakonda and Mrunal Thakur’s The Family Star released in cinemas worldwide on April 5 amid high expectations. However, the film registered an underwhelming start at the box office. The average critic reviews and the non-stop trolling against the movie and Vijay Deverakonda further dented the film’s box office prospects.
However, The Family Star got a huge relief on the auspicious Ugadi festive day. Housefull boards were displayed in front of the ticket counters at several single screens and multiplexes across the twin Telugu states. The film reportedly sold over 60K tickets on Ugadi, bringing the much-needed cheer to the exhibitors.
The Family Star has so far collected over Rs 16.50 crore gross globally. While the film has a challenging task to reach the break even mark, the upcoming Eid holiday and the weekend will surely attract more family audiences to the theaters. The Parasuram directorial is produced by Dil Raju.
