Actor Vishal’s debut directorial Magudam shook the trade with its dismal opening. The film had poor buzz going into its release, and the outright negative reviews only added salt to the injury.

In Tamil Nadu, Magudam earned Rs. 1.3 crores gross in its three-day weekend, which is absolutely disappointing for a well-known hero. Also, the film failed to even recover its release expenses, which indicates the level of outright rejection.

Ravi Arasu was initially roped in as the director, but due to unknown issues, Vishal took up direction midway and revamped the entire screenplay. Dushara Vijayan and Anjali played the female leads. Super Good Films bankrolled Magudam.
