Hollywood Superstar Tom Cruise’s latest outing, Digger, directed by Oscar-winning filmmaker Alejandro González Iñárritu, has turned out to be one of the biggest box-office bombs. The satirical black comedy’s first-weekend projections were revised to $12 million and $15 million after disastrous reviews, but the actuals came in even lower, with the movie managing just $8 million domestically.
Digger was filmed for IMAX, but since the movie is struggling big time to draw audiences, its shows are being replaced by Christopher Nolan’s mega blockbuster The Odyssey, which ruled the roost at the box office.
For the unversed, The Odyssey holds the all-time record for its contribution from the IMAX version, with earnings surpassing $540 million. Globally, The Odyssey earned $1.76 billion, the highest for any R-rated film.
