Vetrimaaran earlier received flak on social media when he said that he keeps filming and sometimes lacks clarity. Netizens opined that this only increases the burden on producers. Now, the director has triggered another debate with his comments on lip-sync issues in his films.
Speaking at an event, he said, “Everybody asks me about lip sync. I ask my team, ‘Do you want sync or story..?’ I choose the story. Someone once asked me about my process. I don’t have any process. I just try to be myself. I like to edit, and sometimes, even after films are released, I keep editing them. I always choose to cast actors who fit the characters I have in mind, rather than conventionally choosing actors who could conveniently play those roles.”
The director is once again at the receiving end of backlash, as netizens feel that Vetrimaaran should own his mistakes instead of making such excuses. His next film, Arasan, is set in the world of Vada Chennai and stars Simbu in the lead role.
