Adivi Sesh has another hit on his hands. Dacoit stormed the box office this weekend, hitting its break-even target in just three days. Earning money back before a movie releases is a huge relief for producers, but bringing massive crowds to theaters right after is the real challenge. Dacoit managed to do both, catching trade analysts off guard with its fast recovery.

A Safe Bet Before Release

The team produced the action thriller on a solid Rs. 65 crore budget. But the makers didn’t sweat the opening day numbers too much. They recovered roughly Rs. 48 crore early by selling the digital, satellite, and audio rights. Because of these strong non-theatrical deals, the movie only needed to collect Rs 17 crore from its theatrical run to cross the finish line.

According to the announcement of these early business deals, the industry expected a decent opening. Yet, Dacoit opened with glowing word of mouth from the very first show, and the momentum didn’t drop. In just three days, the movie pulled in nearly Rs. 40 crore gross worldwide. It blew past that Rs. 17 crore theatrical share mark much faster than anyone anticipated, cementing Adivi Sesh’s strong run at the box office.

The Weekend Surge

Even after the opening weekend finished, the theaters remained busy. While buyers in a few specific regions are still waiting to fully clear their initial investments, the overall numbers look highly positive. The box office pace shows no signs of slowing down. Distributors who bought the theatrical rights will see profits soon, proving once again that a well-budgeted film with strong content rarely fails.
