₹25 crore poster vs ₹3 crore trade figure: Collection poster of Legend Saravanan’s Leader faces trolls
Legend Saravanan, a well-known businessman, made his acting debut with The Legend. His latest film, Leader, directed by R. S. Durai Senthilkumar, has now hit cinemas, and it features Payal Rajput as the female lead.
The film is currently making headlines for the wrong reasons. The makers released a poster claiming that Leader grossed ₹25 crore in its opening weekend and is heading towards the ₹100 crore mark. However, trade reports suggest these figures are highly exaggerated. According to Sacnilk, the film collected around ₹3 crore nett in its first three days, which is significantly lower than the claimed numbers.
Netizens are trolling the makers for allegedly inflating the figures. While Leader has received relatively better reviews compared to The Legend, the controversial collection poster appears to be doing more harm than good, as the claimed numbers are nearly eight times higher than trade estimates. The film also features Shaam, Andrea Jeremiah, Santhosh Prathap, and Lal in key roles. Ghibran composed the tunes.
Tharun Bhascker’s quirky entertainer Gaayapadda Simham, directed by debutant Kasyap Sreenivas, is slated for release on May 1st. It is produced by Manthina, Bhanu Kiran Pratapa, Vijay Krishna Lingamaneni, and Umesh Bansal under Saptaswa Media Works, POV Stories, and Zee Studios. Faria Abdullah and Maanasa Choudhary play the female leads.
The makers have now unveiled another key character. JD Chakravarthy as Brutal Dharma, through a new glimpse. Living up to his name, the introduction presents him as a chilling yet stylish antagonist. His look, sharp outfits, dark shades, and a chunky gold chain exude swagger, while his performance carries a striking retro gangster vibe.
The glimpse hints at Dharma’s involvement in illegal logistics, drugs, and weapons, all linked to a company named Satya Logistics. It ends on a darkly humorous note, as Dharma abruptly shoots a henchman mid-sentence to cut short his long-winded monologue, before casually asking his team if they expected him to wait for the speech to finish. The moment perfectly blends intensity with dark humor, promising a menacing yet entertaining character.
