Aranya is all set for a release soon. On this occasion, we spoke with the film’s hero, Rana, for a detailed interview. Here is the transcript.

Your reaction after hearing the story?

I didn’t know much about forests in the first place. When Prabhu sir narrated the film, I was taken aback by the facts that he revealed to me about the elephants and the real story about the character I play. The wall being built, elephants being troubled, and how my character helps them get freedom attracted me.

How did you prepare for this role?

I went to Thailand 15 days before the shoot and started living with the elephants. Every day, it was a new learning experience working with the elephants. I was very scared but after four to five days, I managed to pull things off with the help of trainers. Aranya is one of the noblest characters I played.

Working with Prabhu Solomon?

Prabhu sir was quite keen about the way the film was supposed to be made. He worked on the film for over three years and is a man who believes in a lot of detail. He has so much clarity on how the forest-based scenes will be shot. I learned a lot from him.

You always do different films. What keeps you going?

It is purely because of the scripts I get. The makers who approach me come up with different scripts. The weird setups and crazy roles excite me a lot. I love doing different films and when films like Aranya come in, I grab them with both hands.

What was the toughest part of shooting for this film?

Apart from shooting with the elephants, shooting the film in three languages was the toughest part. Also, Prabhu sir wanted me to behave in a special manner which was quite tough.

Working experience with Pawan Kalyan in AK remake?

I am having a ball on the sets of Ak remake and Pawan garu is one of the coolest guys around. He is quite original and has his own style. Every single day, I get to learn something or the other. Pawan garu is quite encouraging.

Yesterday, the central government announced the 67th National Film Awards, and Nani’s emotional sports drama, Jersey won two awards in Best Regional Film and Editing categories. On this occasion, Jersey producer Nag Vamsi shared his happiness with the media.

Q) Your reaction after knowing that Jersey bagged two National awards?

A) It was a very happy moment for me and my team. During the shooting itself, we all believed that the film will become a good hit, and getting this kind of appreciation for the central government is a bonus for us.

Q) What was Nani’s reaction?

A) As he shared in the video bite, Nani is very happy with the news. But as he is out of the station, we couldn’t meet in person. Very soon we are planning for a reunion to celebrate the achievement.

Q) Jersey won an award in the Editing category also, tell us about?

A) Yes, for that we have to thank our editor Naveen Nooli because he is the one who used to fight with our director Gautam during the post-production time to give the best cut for the film. And today, his work has got an honor in the form of a National award.

Q) Back then, how did you convince Nani to do such a serious film?

A) While Nani was doing films like MCA and Ninnu Kori, director Gautam approached me with this script. With a lot of fear, we met Nani. After listening to the script, he immediately said okay. That’s how Jersey went on the sets.

Q) Has bagging National awards increased responsibility on you and your banner?

A) It’s not a responsibility but we will definitely take more care of the upcoming projects in our banner.

Q) About Mahesh Babu’s Maharshi bagging National awards?

A) Yeah, the film deserves it because the core point which showcases the hurdles of farmers was executed nicely and Mahesh Babu did a fabulous job.

Q) About your forthcoming film, Rang De?

A) The film is a complete romantic family entertainer. The human emotions and love story between Nithiin and Keerthy Suresh are going to be the highlights of the film.

Q) About Pawan Kalyan- Rana’s film?

A) Already forty percent of the film is done and planning to wrap up the entire shooting by May end.

Q) Next Projects?

A) NTR-Trivikram’s project will go on the sets as soon as possible. Later, we have a good lineup of films for the next two years.
