A few days ago, on the occasion of Shri Rama Navami, a new film based on the epic Ramayana was officially announced. Titled Valmiki Ramayana, the project will be directed by Bhavna Talwar.

In a major update today, it has been confirmed that Isaignani Ilaiyaraaja will compose the music for the film, adding significant weight to its technical and emotional appeal.

The film brings together a highly accomplished technical team. Sabu Cyril will handle production design, promising grand and immersive visual landscapes, while renowned cinematographer Binod Pradhan is on board to capture the epic scale through his lens.

Enhancing the auditory experience, Academy Award-winning sound designer Resul Pookutty has also joined the project. Valmiki Ramayana is slated for a theatrical release on October 2, 2026. Stay tuned for more details on this movie.

Dacoit has failed to make an impact in its Hindi version, showing a consistently poor response right from day one. Despite the makers’ effort in shooting a separate Hindi version to cater to a wider audience, the film could not attract footfalls in the northern belt.

With low occupancy and minimal buzz, the Hindi version is now nearing the end of its theatrical run and is expected to exit cinemas in the next few days.

The strategy to expand its reach beyond Telugu markets hasn’t paid off as expected. In contrast, the Telugu version has performed relatively better and remains the only source of revenue for the makers.

This outcome highlights how content that connects regionally doesn’t always translate effectively across languages, even with dedicated efforts.
