Emraan Hashmi’s much-awaited sequel, Awarapan 2, is scheduled to hit cinemas on August 14, during the Independence Day weekend, clashing with Sunny Deol’s Lahore 1947, produced by Aamir Khan. The patriotic film is slated to release a day before Awaparan 2, i.e., on August 13.

With two films targeting the same holiday window, the fight for screens and audience attention will start getting intense in the coming days. Independence Day releases traditionally bring strong footfalls at the Bollywood box office, but clashes like this often turn unpredictable, with content and buzz deciding the winner.

Awarapan, starring Emraan Hashmi and Shriya Saran, still enjoys a cult following among the audience. Ever since the second part was announced, the anticipation has been building steadily and strongly. The consistent increase in BookMyShow interests (now at 126K) indicates the kind of hype the movie carries.

Directed by Nitin Kakkar, Awarapan 2 is in the final stages of production. Disha Patani plays the female lead. Movie buffs are particularly interested in seeing how the story evolves and what new aspects will be added.

Tharun Bhascker is juggling multiple projects as both an actor and a director. His next release as a lead actor, Gaayapadda Simham, is set to hit screens on May 1, 2026. Meanwhile, he is also working on ENE Repeat, the sequel to the cult buddy comedy Ee Nagaraniki Emaindi, which is currently being shot in Thailand.

While several on-set stills have already surfaced online, Tharun has now shared a picture featuring the lead cast together for the first time. The frame includes Vishwak Sen, Abhinav Gomatam, Venkatesh Kakumanu, and Srinath Maganti, bringing back the familiar vibe of the original.

ENE Repeat is jointly produced by SS Originals and Suresh Productions. The film also features cameos from Anudeep KV and several notable personalities, with music composed by Vivek Sagar. The makers are targeting a release between September and October this year.
