Atharvaa’s coming-of-age romantic drama Idhayam Murali has locked its digital debut. The Tamil film, which opened to decent reviews during its theatrical run, is now gearing up for its OTT premiere.
Netflix has officially confirmed that Idhayam Murali will begin streaming on August 7, 2026. The platform is yet to announce the languages in which the film will be available.
The film stars Preity Mukhundhan, Kayadu Lohar, Jonita Gandhi, and Malavika Mohanan in key roles. Fahadh Faasil makes an extended cameo, while Thaman has composed the music.
Produced by Aakash Baskaran under the Dawn Pictures banner, Idhayam Murali is expected to find a wider audience with its digital release.
Kollywood actor Arya’s Sarpatta Parambarai, directed by Pa. Ranjith, became a smash hit during the second COVID-19 lockdown. Released directly on Amazon Prime Video, the film impressed audiences with its gripping storyline, powerful performances, and authentic portrayal of North Chennai’s boxing culture.
Last year, the makers officially announced Sarpatta 2, giving fans a major reason to celebrate. The latest update reveals that the second installment of the much-loved sports drama isn’t a sequel but a prequel. The same was confirmed by the film’s leading lady, Dushara Vijayan.
In an interview, the actress said, “Sarpatta 2 shooting begins this month. I’m very excited. This one is going to be a prequel to the story, so even I’m looking forward to seeing how it’s going to shape up. Mariyamma is coming back. Sarpatta Part 1 was released on OTT due to COVID, but this one is going to have a proper theatrical release.”
