Mollywood megastar Mammootty has recently come up with the crime thriller Kalamkaval. Directed by debutant Jithin K. Jose, Mammootty played a psychopath in this film. The movie received solid reports from critics and became a commercial success.
In a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter India, Mammootty revealed why he produced the film himself. He said, “No other producer will agree to cast me in such a role, so I produced it myself. You cannot perform the same role 100 times; it should be different.”
Vinayakan, Rajisha Vijayan, Gibin Gopinath, and others played crucial roles, while Meera Jasmine appeared in a cameo. The film is bankrolled by Mammootty Kampany, with music composed by Mujeeb Majeed.
Adivi Sesh’s romantic action drama Dacoit is up for release this Friday. The movie, also starring Mrunal Thakur, marks the directorial debut of Shaniel Deo. The film carries good hype among audiences, and the overseas advance bookings have started on a positive note.
Despite the anticipation, the makers have chosen to skip paid premieres in India, a move that has surprised movie buffs. Instead, Dacoit will open with 8 AM shows across the country, as revealed by Adivi Sesh himself. At a time when many filmmakers are preferring to screen paid premieres, the Dacoit team opting against them indeed comes as a surprise.
The film is backed by Supriya Yarlagadda and co-produced by Suniel Narang, with Annapurna Studios presenting it. Bheems Ceciroleo has composed the songs, while Gyaani has provided the background score.
