Senior actor and Hindupur MLA Nandamuri Balakrishna made several noteworthy remarks on the current state of Telugu cinema while speaking at the oath taking ceremony of the newly appointed AP Film Development Corporation Chairman and board members in Vijayawada.

Balakrishna stated that the theatrical sector is going through difficult times and stressed the need to support exhibitors and theater owners. He noted that filmmakers in earlier days used to complete movies much faster even without advanced technology, whereas production timelines have now increased significantly.

He pointed out that nearly 65-70% of Telugu cinema’s box office collections are currently coming from Andhra Pradesh and praised audiences in the state for their continuous support toward films. According to him, exhibitors heavily depend on a steady flow of releases to sustain theatrical business.

The senior actor also said that the Andhra Pradesh government is ready to support the film industry and hoped the Telangana government would also extend the necessary assistance for the overall growth of Telugu cinema.

One of the biggest highlights from his speech was about the prestigious Nandi Awards. Balakrishna emphasized the need to revive the discontinued awards and assured that the newly formed APFDC board would take responsibility for bringing them back.
