Interview : Nagarjuna – Wild Dog is a new age commercial film

Nagarjuna is back with his new film Wild Dog. On the eve of the film’s release, we caught up with the star hero for a detailed interview. Here is the transcript.

The reason behind aggressively promoting Wild Dog?

Yes. This is the most that I have promoted any of my films to date. Wild Dog is the kind of film which needs extensive promotions. This is a new age commercial film and the audience needs to know how different the film is going to be. Such films need a wider audience and that is the reason I went all out.

With Wild Dog, you are launching the 40th director into films. Tell us about that?

I am the one who always thinks in advance and that is the reason I give chance to new directors. I am fed up with doing the same thing time and again. So, I choose new guys who can showcase me in a new manner. I feel that I am in this position only because of the new directors whom I launched.

The reason behind okaying Wild Dog?

This project came to me in 2019 when I was working on the script of Bangaraju. I loved the idea and felt that this film needs to go on floors first as it can be shot in a quick time. Also, I have not done such a role so far and the new age narration impressed me big time.

About your role?

I play an NIA officer Vinay Varma. He is quite powerful and does not listen to anyone and lives by his rules. When such a person gets into a serious issue of terrorism, things change and all this is showcased in the film. The manner in which my role was written impressed me big time.

This film does not have any songs. Were you okay with it?

Yes, I was totally cool with it. These days, not many are liking the songs in films. Depends on the film, the songs will come in and go. I feel such a serious film should not have songs and disturb the flow of the film.

How was it doing such action at this age?

I am the one who is into fitness all the time. So, all this helped me big time to stay fit even when we did a lot of action. I used to get tired and had slight back issues during the end of the day’s shoot. But I loved doing the action.

Tell us about your role in Brahmastra?

I cannot say much about Brahmastra but I have a very powerful role and it is one of my best so far. I have a good half an hour duration in the film which will be a big hit.

About the film with Vaishnav Tej?

Yes, we are making a film with Vaishnav Tej. A new director will be making this film and Vaishnav has loved the script. We will announce the project very soon and I am quite excited about it.

Future Projects?

I am working on the Bangaraju script as we talk and am shooting for a film with Praveen Sattaru as of now. Also, I am in talks for a few web series.
