Interview : Prakash Raj – Biryani is a complete food ever invented



National award winner Prakash Raj, is probably the only actor in the country, who is working in more than three languages simultaneously. He is now back with his trilingual film Ulavacharu Biryani, which he has directed himself. We caught up with Prakash for a detailed interview, and lets see what he has to say.

Q) All your previous directorial ventures were feel good movies. What about Ulavacharu Biryani ?

A) Even with Ulavacharu Biryani, you will come out of the theaters with a huge smile on your face, as this movie is a celebration of love.

Q) How difficult was it shooting in three different languages ?

A) It was extremely difficult, but at the same time was a huge learning experience. I got to work with talents from three different industries, and the huge cultural exchange which happened was quite brillaint.

Q) Tell us about the young actor in the film ?

A) K S Rama Rao sent a young guy called Tejas to me. I liked the way he was so confident about himself. He had already worked under Teja for one year, which was like an icing on the cake for me to cast him.

Q) You have played different characters in your life, mostly negative. How difficult was it act in this film ?

A) For an actor, every film is a new experience. You just have to portray your character to the best of your capabilities, and audience will surely accept you in any role.

Q) How was it working with maestro Ilayaraja ?

A) It was like a huge blessing for me to work with such a genius like Ilayaraja sir. Every day was special as I got to learn so much from him throughout the journey.

Q) Even though you act in commercial films, why do you always direct films which are in a different genre.

A) I love acting in all those commercial flicks, but when it comes to making films, this is what I can do best, and the appreciation I get is totally exhilarating.

Q) Tell us about Sneha’s role in the film ?

A) She has a special role, and did a marvelous job in the film. I was surprised to see her perform and it moved me completely.

Q) Why didn’t you think of making this film in Bollywood ?

A) The remake rights are with me, and I will remake it a little later. As there is a huge cultural difference, I need to do a lot of homework before remaking it in Hindi.

Q) Acting, production and direction. Which one do you like the most ?

A) Obviously direction. As a directer you can learn a lot, and will have a strong grip on the entire film.

Q) What is you favorite food ?

A) Undoubtedly Biryani. I love Biryani’s from different regions, and always look out for them whenever I visit these places. According to me, Biryani is the complete food that has been ever invented.
