Interview : Rana Daggubati – Dad and I are happy with NRNM’s output

Macho hunk Rana Daggubati, who is riding high with back to back hits in the form of Ghazi and Baahubali 2, is coming up with yet another film titled Nene Raju Nene Mantri. This political drama is gearing up for August 11th release. On this occasion, we had a small chitchat with him. Here is the transcript:

Q) What is the film about?

A) We have revealed the story in the trailer itself. Jogendra is a smal-ltime businessman in a village. He emerges as a vital power due to some unexpected incidents. What are those incidents and how he managed those circumstances is the entire story about.

Q) Did you follow or imitate any political leader for this role?

A) No, I haven’t followed anyone. I have tried to keep it in my own style so that the audience will get connected to Jogendra’s character.

Q) Is it a revenge drama?

A) Yeah, It’s a revenge drama mixed with love (laughs). Jogendra loves his wife a lot and post marriage, he keeps her name in front of his and becomes popular as Radha Jogendra.

Q) Are there any similarities between Leader’s Arjun and NRNM’s Jogendra?

A) In Leader, the hero is a very good person. He has a concern towards society and poor people but in this film, Jogendra enters politics to take revenge on his opposition group. My character will have a few negative shades to it.

Q) What was your reaction when Teja narrated you the story?

A) First and foremost I liked the story and believed in it. Teja is a proven director and I always had confidence in him that he will execute the whatever he had narrated to me.

Q) You are releasing the film in multi languages, tell us about it?

A) I always wanted to do a proper bilingual film and that is the reason we worked on Tamil version’s dialogues from the script stage itself. The film was parallelly made in both Telugu and Tamil languages.

Q) Tell us about wearing Dhoti in the film, is it your idea?

A) In general, politicians from the Andhra -Tamil Nadu border follow the same pattern in their dressing style. So we just followed the same in our film.

Q) A few words about your father cum the film’s producer?

A) Dad always prefers to go with classic commercial films and that is his actual success secret. He was completely involved in the film from the scripting stage itself. We both are happy with the film’s output.

Q) Are you having any plans to remake the recent Tamil hit, Vikram Vedha?

A) (Laughs) Yeah, I too saw the news regarding the same on social media, but no, we are not having any such plans as of now.
