Interview: Rashmi – I am proud of myself

After creating a huge sensation on the small screen, Rashmi Gautam is ready for a full length role in Praveen Sattaru’s Guntur Talkies. We caught up with her for a brief interview. Here is the transcript.

Q) Why did you choose this role ?

The credit should go to Praveen Sattaru for seeing me in the role of Suvarna. When the role was offered to me, I felt that it was quite challenging to play a village girl which is quite contrast to my real life image.

Q) What is Guntur Talkies all about ?

Our film is a fun crime comedy with some realistic scenes and narration. This is a kind of film which is not for the entire family.

Q) Looks like you have increased the glamour quotient for this film ?

Yes ! my character is quite bold and I have no inhibitions playing it. Previously, during the first phase of my career I did all kinds of roles but things did not work and now I accepted this role which I am very proud of.

Q) Tell us about your role in the film ?

I play a slum girl called Suvarna who is one of the linking points of the main story. My role has a huge attitude problem and I followed the director completely and performed according to his instructions.

Q) What kind of roles do you want to do in the future ?

I am game for any kind of role. If my character is quite crucial for the film, I am ready to do even small roles.

Q) Do you think the audience will accept you in character roles ?

Why not ! times have changed and people are more open now. For example, Anasuya has done a character role in Kshanam which is being hugely praised all over. If we do our job well, one day we can make it big for sure.
