Interview: Sagar Mahati- Most of my career is influenced by my father.



Sagar Mahati, son of acclaimed music director Mani Sharma, made his debut as musician with Jaadugadu movie. The audio has been released recently and it is getting a good response in the market. On this occasion, we caught up with him for a brief interview. Let’s see what he has to say.

Q) How did you bag the opportunity for Jaadugadu ?

A) I started my career as a key board player and worked as an assistant to many music directors. Yogie, the director of this film has encouraged me a lot and he selected me to score tunes for this flick. I also thank V.V.N Prasad, the producer of this movie for encouraging me through out this album.

Q) Do you have any specialization like your father ?

A) While giving tunes for different movies, we have come up with music apt for the subject of the respective movie. So, I feel that specialization is something which depends on the nature of the movie. In particular, I love to score western tunes for my albums.

Q)When did you aspire to became a music director?

A) In my childhood days,I usually went to the recording theatres owned by my grand father. I also accompanied my father to the recording theatres on many occasions. I was determined to became a music director at a very young age.

Q) Apart from your father, which music director do you admire the most ?

A) Most of my career is influenced by my father. Music director Kalyani Malik also played an important role in my career. I also love Yuvan Shankar Raja’s music.

Q)How is the journey with Jaadugadu team ?

A) It was a superb journey. Both the producer and director has given me good freedom and I am feeling that my album will live up to their expectations.

Q) How far did your father involve in this album?

A) Through out the album, he has been very supportive and encouraging. I received feed back for every song I scored in this album.

Q)What are your upcoming projects ?

A) I signed a film which will be produced by S.V.K Pictures. Madhu is the director for this film. I will soon start recording for this album.
