Interview : Sakshi Vaidya – I play a pilot in Agent

Akhil Akkineni’s spy action thriller Agent is all set to arrive in theatres tomorrow. The movie, directed by Surender Reddy, has Malayalam Megastar Mammootty in an important role. Sakshi Vaidya is the female lead, and Anil Sunkara produced this big-budget film under AK Entertainments and Surender 2 Cinema. Hip Hop Tamizha scored the tunes. Ahead of the release, the film’s leading lady interacted with the media, and here is the transcript.

How did you get the chance in Agent?

Agent is a complete action thriller. The beast needs a beauty, and that is the role I am playing. During Covid, I started doing portrait photography on Instagram. I gave a few auditions in Mumbai. I got an offer from casting director Mukesh, who told me about the film. I came to Hyderabad, and Suri Garu liked me, and that’s how I came on board.

Could you tell us more about your character in the film?

I play a pilot in Agent. She doesn’t believe in relationships. Then she meets him, and things happen. But the protagonist has to break up with her, and you will know the reason after watching the movie.

How was your working experience with Akhil?

There will be a notion in the film industry that big stars won’t talk to their co-stars. But he is exactly the opposite of it. Akhil is very humble, just like Nagarjuna sir. I learned a lot from him while shooting.

Generally, in spy thrillers, there won’t be much scope for female leads. How strong will your character be in Agent?

I won’t say that I have huge scope for performance, but definitely, for a beginner, this is a very good role. I had good exposure to a lot of things after doing Agent. I am sure audiences will find my role worthy.

Do you have any dream roles that you wish to do?

Honestly, when I watch a film, I never feel like I should play a character in it. My life has always been a big surprise, and I thankfully made the right choice. Whatever roles I get, I will work hard to prove my worth.
