Interview : Vaibhav – Pandavullo Okkadu will give good recognition for me in Tollywood

Vaibhav, son of the ace filmmaker Kodandarami Reddy, has appeared in a few Telugu movies in the initial days of his career. Now, he is busy with numerous Tamil films under his belt. His movie Kappal, which released a few months ago in Tamil, is now being dubbed into Telugu as Pandavullo Okkadu. Tollywood director Maruthi is releasing this film on the 24th of this month. We caught up with Vaibhav for a brief interview. Let’s see what he has to say.

Q) Tell us briefly about ‘Pandavullo Okkadu’ ?

This movie is a comic caper. The story is all about five friends who decide to drop plans of marriage at their teenage to continue their friendship forever. But the hero has a strong desire for love marriage and the story goes on with him. The entire movie is filled with entertaining elements and I am hopeful of its success.

Q) Tell us about your role in this movie.

I played the role of Vasu in this film. The role is all about how I handle my love story and how my friends get involved in my story. I am very confident that this role will give good recognition for me in Tollywood.

Q) How was the response for Tamil version ?

The response was pretty good for the Tamil version. Star Tamil filmmaker Shankar released it and it has garnered good collections along with ‘I’ movie . I hope it registers good collections with the Telugu version as well.

Q) How did the director execute the entertaining elements in this film ?

He did a terrific job with direction. The entertaining elements are based on the dialogues. He worked as an assistant to Shankar and so the star filmmaker’s flavor will be seen in this film.

Q) Why have you stopped doing films in Telugu ?

No, I haven’t stopped them. I appeared in Anamika and after that I got many offers in Telugu but I couldn’t sign due to my commitments in Tamil. I will soon do a film in Telugu.

Q) You essayed a key role in Ajith’s Gambler. If you are offered a similar role in Telugu, will you act in it ?

Yes. I will definitely play that type of roles if I get a chance. I want to establish myself as a hero and also will continue to do that type of characters.

Q) How did you feel when you heard that director Maruthi is releasing the Telugu version?

I am very happy and felt lucky to have it released through director Maruthi. I hope this movie will get enough publicity and fare well at the box office.

Q) Tell us about your current projects and are you planning to take up direction in future?

I am currently working for two Tamil projects and haven’t signed any in Telugu. I am planning to take up direction after two years. I had even worked as an assistant director to Puri Jagannadh.
