Interview : Venky Kudumula – I’m thankful to Naga Shaurya and his parents

Young hero Naga Shaurya’s upcoming romantic entertainer, Chalo, is gearing up for a February 2nd release. On this occasion, we caught up with the film’s director Venky Kudumula for a brief interview. Here is the transcript.

Q) Tell us about your background?

A) My native place is Aswaraopet in Khammam district. I have been a film buff from my childhood and always wanted to enter the film industry. I came to Hyderabad and joined as an assistant to director Teja. I even did a small role in Teja sir’s Neeku Naaku. Later, I worked with director Yogi and eventually assisted Trivikram sir on A Aa.

Q) How did Chalo happen?

A) I worked as an assistant director to Yogi on Naga Shaurya’s Jadoogadu. During the film’s shoot, we became good friends and when I was in direction trials, Shaurya himself called me and asked me to prepare a script. That’s how the film began.

Q) What is Chalo all about?

A) As we have shown in the trailer, Chalo’s story happens in a village which is located on the Andhra-Tamil Nadu border. It’s a complete love story narrated with good entertainment throughout.

Q) You are debuting as a director in Naga Shaurya’s home production. Tell us about it?

A) Firstly, I would like to wholeheartedly thank Naga Shaurya and his parents for trusting me and my story. Their support and unconditional love encouraged me to deliver a quality output.

Q) Any specific reason to cast Rashmika Mandanna?

A) Since our film is a youthful love story, I always wanted to rope in a fresh face as the female lead. In the process, I happened to watch the Kannada super hit Kirik Party and was impressed with Rashmika’s performance and decided to cast her. After discussing with Shaurya and his parents, we finalized her as our heroine.

Q) Tell us about your music director Sagar?

A) You all know that Sagar is Mani Sharma’s son and I have known him since Jadoogadu. We have a good rapport since then. Sagar’s songs and background score are going to be an added advantage for our film.

Q) Your next projects?

A) As of now, I’m eagerly waiting for the film’s result. I will start working on new scripts after Chalo’s release.
