Tamil actor Arya was last seen in Mr. X and also made a special appearance in Suriya’s Karuppu. Although his role was more of an extended cameo, it ultimately did not make it to the theatrical or OTT versions of the film.
Addressing the matter for the first time, Arya spoke about his deleted scenes during the press meet of his upcoming film Ananthan Kaadu, which also marks his Malayalam cinema debut.
Speaking about Karuppu, Arya said, “RJ Balaji asked me to do a cameo in the film. Since we’re good friends, I immediately agreed. I didn’t ask how big the role was or anything. I just did it for him. Later, they informed me that the scenes had been removed during editing, and that’s completely fine with me. If cutting my scenes makes the film better, that’s what matters. I never did it for screen time or recognition. We will work together again on another project.”
With that, Arya has put all speculation surrounding his role in Karuppu to rest. There is still a possibility that the deleted portions could be released separately on YouTube in the future.
The actor’s focus remains firmly on Ananthan Kaadu. Directed as a bilingual venture, Ananthan Kaadu is scheduled to hit theatres in both Tamil and Malayalam on June 25, 2026.
