A film based on the life of the legendary Maratha warrior Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, titled The Pride of Bharat: Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, is currently in the works with Rishab Shetty in the lead role. The ambitious project has been in the pre-production stage for a long time, and a major casting update has now been revealed.
Bollywood actress Bhumi Pednekar has been roped in to portray Belawadi Mallamma, the warrior queen remembered for her valor and unwavering spirit. The two-part historical drama is being directed by Sandeep Singh.
Arjun Rampal and Vivek Oberoi will be seen in crucial roles. Rishi Virmani has written the film, while Amit Trivedi will compose the music. The film is set to go on the floors later this year and is slated for a grand theatrical release in 2028.
