One of the most-awaited Indian films, Varanasi, directed by the legendary SS Rajamouli and starring Mahesh Babu, is back in the headlines for an interesting reason.
Mahesh Babu will celebrate his birthday on August 9, and as is customary in the Telugu film industry, fans are eagerly hoping for a special treat from the makers. With Varanasi reportedly 80% complete, expectations for a glimpse or teaser are naturally sky-high.
However, reports suggest fans may have to brace for a slight disappointment. While many were hoping for a glimpse, the makers are reportedly planning to unveil only a normal birthday poster featuring Mahesh Babu.
The decision appears to be a calculated one. Rajamouli is known for carefully timing every promotional move, and he reportedly wants to save the film’s biggest reveals for the right moment rather than rushing out an update for the occasion. So, fans may be better off keeping their expectations in check this time.
Meanwhile, Rajamouli and his team are working relentlessly to complete the film ahead of its worldwide release on April 7, 2027.
Joining Mahesh Babu in this ambitious globetrotting adventure are Priyanka Chopra Jonas and Prithviraj Sukumaran in pivotal roles. The film is jointly produced by KL Narayana and SS Karthikeya, with Oscar-winning composer MM Keeravani scoring the music for what is shaping up to be one of the biggest Indian cinematic events in recent years.
