Veteran actress to be honored with Dada Saheb Phalke Lifetime Achievement Award for 2020

Dada Saheb Phalke Award is the most prestigious and iconic award in Indian cinema. Today the government of India has officially declared that for the year 2020 Bollywood actress Asha Parekh will be honored with this esteemed award for her exemplary contribution to Indian cinema.

Accordingly, the award will be presented by the Honorable President of India at the 68th National Film Awards in Vigyan Bhavan on September 30th. Actress Asha Parekh was born in Gujarat in 1942 and was a classical dancer from her childhood. This raised her curiosity about films and later joined Bollywood.

She started her film journey as a child artist and later acted in over 95 films. Her best works include Dil Deke Dekho, Kati Patang, Caravan, and Tewari Manzil. In the year 1992, the actress was bestowed with the Padma Shri award. Asha Parekh also was a director and producer. The veteran actress also served as the head of the Censor Board from 1998-2001.
