This week released a lot of OTT content, specifically on Netflix. Among them are Pawan Kalyan’s Ustaad Bhagat Singh and Tamil hit movie Youth. Surprisingly, Both movies released in cinemas and OTT on same day. However, their response was different in theaters and now on OTT.
The coming of age drama Youth directed by and starring debutant Ken Karunas, was a big theatrical success unlike Harish Shankar-helmed Ustaad Bhagat Singh. Now, on Netflix as well, Youth stands in 2nd place in trending movies chart pushing Pawan Kalyan’s film behind, settled in 3rd place.
Despite the stardom and crazy combination, the Telugu movie failed to gain much attention on OTT, compared to the small budget Tamil hit movie. We need to see if the tables will turn out in the next few days.
Bad Boy Karthik, starring Naga Shaurya, has opened to a disappointing response at the box office. The film, which remained stuck in production for several years, finally released yesterday but was met with disastrous talk from audiences and critics alike.
Adding to the concerns, the makers are yet to lock a deal for the film’s OTT rights, which could have helped cushion the financial blow. With poor word of mouth and low occupancy, theatrical prospects already look bleak.
Given the long delay and mounting costs, the film now appears headed for significant losses, leaving the producers in a tough position with limited recovery avenues.
