Story: Sanjay (Vikrant) and Aditi (Kriti) meet each other in college and eventually fall in love. They go on to work in the same company and are in a live-in relationship. After understanding that their families won’t let them get married, the couple devise a wicked plan to trick their parents. This in turn lands them in more trouble. Can the couple trick their families and get married?

Plus points:

Vikrant and Kriti share a sparkling chemistry and they make a good-looking couple on screen. Both the actors come up with fine performances. Vikrant is particularly good in comical sequences.

The situational comedy that has been generated through the tricky situations the lead pair find themselves in is good in parts. The climax portion is silly but it serves the purpose i.e, leave the viewers in splits.

Minus Points:

14 Phere has a wafer thin plot and there is zero depth in the story. A couple trying to deceive their families to get married is a beaten-to-death narrative and this Vikrant Massey and Kriti starrer falls under the same category. Many crucial sequences which needed novel narrative have been presented in a comical manner, which takes away the anticipation factor.

The latter half is loaded with slapstick comedy and the screenplay is way too predictable. We can easily guess what is about to happen next in the story. The whole subplot of tricking the families of the lead pair loses steam after a point and it turns out to tiresome.

Technical Departments:

The director Devanshu Singh has his motive clear right from the start. He tries to evoke comedy from the awkward situations the lead pair find themselves in. This works in the early stages but after the halfway mark, every scene follows the same template, which acts against the cause. Music and background score are okayish. Cinematography is neat.

Verdict:

14 Phere is a formulaic sit-com that starts off fairly well but the routine and predictable screenplay make it an underwhelming watch. A few scenes do entertain the viewers but they are greatly outnumbered by bland and unimaginative sequences which take the center stage in the second half.
