Young actor Viswant is familiar to the audience with the films like Kerintha and Manamantha. He has now come up with a movie titled Boyfriend For Hire, directed by Santosh Kambhampati. As the name suggests, the film targets the youth audience. It has hit the screens today, and let’s find out how it is.

Story:

Arjun (Viswant) makes himself available for hire as a boyfriend and thus keeps going on a date with every girl. Impressed by his looks and charm, Natasha (Pooja Ramachandran) hires him for a night and tries to proceed sexually with Arjun. Arjun stops her and explains that he is a virgin who won’t cross the line. Why is Arjun doing all this? Who is Divya (Malavika)? What is the prominence of Divya in Arjun’s life? Watch the film to know the answers.

Plus Points:

The main thing that catches our attention in this film is the chemistry between the lead pair. Both Viswant and Malavika looked good together and shared beautiful on-screen chemistry that is very much required for a rom-com. The love track between these two is depicted in a satisfactory manner.

Viswant has matured as an actor very much. There is an ease in his acting, and he looks too good too in stylish costumes. Malavika, as the female lead, did a fine job in the movie. She looked ravishing, and more importantly, she got a good role laced with proper emotions.

The first half is fast-paced and has a few engaging moments. Few dialogues in the film are well written. The drama at places is good though it doesn’t last long. The comedy portions are decent, and the final sequence involving Sudharshan came out well.

Minus Points:

One of the main drawbacks of the film is the lack of clarity in the protagonist’s characterization. The emotions and story in the movie are routine, but the makers tried to present them in a new manner. Unfortunately, this is where the director got it wrong. The film thus tries to have a modern touch through the hero’s character but doesn’t succeed ultimately.

The film’s second half is very slow-paced, and it gets stretched needlessly. The story could have ended way earlier, but the director added a few unnecessary scenes, which give us a feeling of watching a lengthy film.

A good actor like Harshavardhan is not well utilized in the film as he gets less screen time. Those who expect some spicy and bold content looking at the title might be disappointed to an extent after watching the movie.

Technical Aspects:

Gopi Sundar’s background score is normal, but a couple of his songs are good on screen. The cinematography by Bala Saraswathi is neat, and his frames are colorful to watch. However, the editing team should have chopped off a few portions in the latter hour to give the film a better feel.

The production values are outlandish. Coming to the director Santosh, he has done a strictly okay job with the film. His attempt to showcase the old story in a contemporary way is fine, but his narration is not up to the mark. In addition, the way he designed the main lead’s role is not that impressive. Things would have been much better had he been cautious regarding this crucial aspect.

Verdict:

On the whole, Boyfriend For Hire is a rom-com that works strictly in parts. The drama and emotions at a few places are its strengths. But the film takes a nosedive in the second half and doesn’t rise over an extent. If you are okay with the mentioned flaws, you can give the film a try this weekend.
