Simha Koduri, son of M M Keeravani is ready with his new film Dongalunnaru Jagartta. The film has hit the screens today and let’s see how it is.

Story:

Raju(Simha Koduri) is a small-time thief who plans a car robbery. But in a tragic turnaround of events, he gets stuck in the car. After a while, he comes to know that a doctor is behind his getting stuck in the vehicle. Who is this doctor? Why did he target Raju? and how did Raju come out of the car? That forms the rest of the story.

Plus Points:

The entire film happens in a car and the basic idea and theme behind the story looks interesting. The film starts on a slow note but picks up well before the interval and the half way mark twist looks decent.

Simha Koduri gets the role of his life as he is the only actor in the film who is shown until the climax. So, he gets close up shots and needs to do a perfect job which he does for the most part.

Though he looks a bit uneasy during the beginning, he makes up for it in the second half once he realises his mistakes. More maturity from him as an actor would have elevated the film even more.

Minus Points:

One of the biggest drawbacks of the film is the lack of strong emotions. The director did not create much panic through the central character. A person who gets stuck in a car for days gets panicked a lot but that is not showcased here.

There are multiple logics which go a toss. The car is sound proof but the hero does not do anything to move the car so that the one outside could sense something wrong.

The hero should have made more attempts to come out of the car. The reason for which he is locked in the car looks good but the way it ended during the climax is not that great. More emotions and thrills would have made this film quite interesting.

Technical Aspects:

As the film happens mostly in a car, the camera work needed to be solid and it is quite impressive. The various angles covered in the car to capture emotions looked good. BGM was just about okay but the dialogues were not that good. Subhaleka Sudhakar’s voice for the key phone calls suited the theme well.

Coming to the director Satish, he has done a strictly okay job with the film. His story idea is good and the basic conflict behind a man getting stuck in a car is also neat. But his direction needed more focus and emphasis on emotions and thrills which go missing. It is only after the first half that things get interesting but it is too late by then.

Verdict:

On the whole, Dongallunaru Jagartta has a decent premise but is marred by lack of gripping thrills and moving emotions. Simha Koduri does well but the rest of the narration is not that entertaining making this film a very dull watch this weekend.
