Bigg Boss Telugu fame Syed Sohel Ryan starrer new movie Lucky Lakshman hit the screens today. Let’s see how the film is.

Story:

Lakshman (Syed Sohel Ryan) is a middle-class student, who falls in love with his college mate Shriya (Mokksha), a rich yet simple girl. He leaves his poor father for doing nothing for him and Shriya takes care of Lakshman. Unfortunately, they break up over an issue. Later Lakshman decides to be rich and starts an elite marriage bureau with his childhood friends. He turns rich in no time and he changes a lot. One day, he comes to know about the bad phase of Shriya. What happened to Shriya? What did Lakshman do then? Did they reunite? The main movie has all the answers.

Plus Points:

Bigg Boss fame Sohel is decent in his role. His subtle performance as a middle-class person looks good. Besides, he has fine comedy timing and good dancing skills. Totally, he solely leads the entire film with his performance.

Heroine Mokksha looks good and her decent performance is one of the best things that need to be mentioned. The remaining actors give their best in the given roles.

The story is simple and one can predict it easily. But, the director AR Abhi narrates the routine story by injecting some decent comedy scenes and succeeded in making the film a watchable fare.

Minus Points:

Audiences have seen this kind of story for ages. The director AR Abhi who is also the writer of the movie tries to play a safe game and chooses a routine rom-com template. He could have tried writing a better script for Sohel. The emotional scenes that come in the climax are overdramatic. On the whole, the story is okay but not great.

On the other hand, the film has some unnecessary characters and it looks like they are shown just to kill some screen time. A crisp screenplay could have made Lucky Lakshman a better movie. Also, the director could have written some better dialogues.

Technical Aspects:

As mentioned above, Abhi chooses a standard rom-com template and tries to narrate in a fine way. He is somehow successful in this aspect. Music director Anup Rubens’ music is not much impressive and so is Andrew’s cinematography. Production values are decent. Some of the scenes should have been trimmed in the latter half to make the film better.

Verdict:

On the whole, Lucky Lakshman is a routine romantic comedy drama that works only in parts. The performances of Sohel and Mokksha are decent. Some of the comedy scenes evoke laughs. If you are okay with a story that you have seen hundreds of times before, you can give it a watch this weekend.
