Basha director Suresh Krissna produced and created an OTT film titled Police Story: Case 1-Night Owls for ETV Win. The film is now available for streaming. Check out our review to know how the movie is.

Story:

Aarthi (Shwetha Avasthi) is a software employee and also happens to be the ex-wife of Shiva (Srinath Maganti), an ACP. A murder occurs in Aarthi’s office, owned by a Minister’s relative. ACP Riyaz (Temper Siva) enters the scene to solve the mystery, while Shiva, who is currently suspended from his duties, also arrives at the crime scene to handle the investigation. Who is the accused? Why was Shiva suspended from his duties? What has made Shiva plunge into action? What actually happened in the office? All these answers will be revealed in the movie.

Plus Points:

The film has a familiar yet interesting storyline, and the director skillfully steers the show with neat direction.

Srinath Maganti’s portrayal of Shiva as an honest and dedicated policeman is commendable, adding to the enjoyment of the audience.

Temper Vamsi’s character, Riyaz, with its intriguing grey shades, is well-executed, showcasing Vamsi’s acting prowess.

Shwetha Avasthi’s performance as Aarthi is decent, and the rest of the cast delivers satisfactory performances.

Minus Points:

While the movie boasts a neat screenplay, a more tighter narration by the director could have made it even more captivating. He should have handled the climax in a suspenseful way to make the ending more intriguing.

The soundtracks, crucial for creating the right atmosphere in crime thrillers like this, could have been improved to heighten the suspense.

Incorporating some unexpected twists and turns would have added a thrilling touch to the story, keeping the audience on the edge of their seats.

The first half of the movie has some unnecessary scenes that hinder the plot’s progression, and trimming them down would have improved the overall pace.

The film could have benefited from casting some well-known faces to enhance the audience’s connection with the story, as most of the cast is relatively unfamiliar.

Technical Aspects:

Ram Vignesh, the writer, and director, skillfully handles the film, although giving more attention to the first half and the background score could have elevated the overall experience.

Meenakshi Bhujang’s score, while acceptable, could have been more impactful to intensify the thrill of the movie.

Cinematography and production values meet the standards, but the editor could have eliminated a few unnecessary scenes during the initial hour.

Verdict:

On the whole, Police Story: Case 1-Night Owls is a familiar but watchable crime thriller with fine performances from the male leads. However, the movie’s pacing could have been better with a tighter screenplay, and a more thrilling score would have added to the suspenseful experience. Despite some shortcomings in the first half, the okayish second half makes up for it. If you can overlook these drawbacks and enjoy a familiar yet well-executed storyline, this film can be a satisfactory choice for a weekend watch from the comfort of your home.
