Power star Pawan Kalyan is in a rocking phase of his career right now. After taking the box office by storm with ‘Gabbar Singh’ he is now back with ‘Cameraman Ganga Tho Rambabu’. This movie has many highlights as Pawan Kalyan and Puri Jagan are collaborating after a gap of 12 years. Always known for his unique working style, Puri has finished CMGR’s shoot in very less time. After some huge promotions and lot of expectations,CMGR has finally hit the screens. Let’s see how it is.

Story:

Rambabu(Pawan Kalyan) is a honest man who always stands by the needy. He opposes all the bad elements in the society, and helps them in whatever way he can. Ganga (Tamanna) a camera person for a famous TV channel, comes to know about Rambabu’s daring attitude and convinces him to join her channel. Rambabu gets hugely popular as a sincere reporter, and during the course of his job comes across a shrewd politician Jawahar Naidu(Kota Srinivasa Rao) who at any cost, wants to get back into power.

Jawhar Naidu takes the help of his evil son Prakash Raj and starts planning towards his goal. An ugly spate of events occur in the state and Rambabu takes up the social responsibility, and decides to take on the evil Prakash Raj. What plan does Prakash Raj make to get into power? How does Rambabu stop him from achieving his goal? and what political situations arise because of this huge tug of war, forms the rest of the story.

Plus Points:

CMGR is completely a one man show. It’s Pawan Kalyan’s star power and charisma that makes this film more interesting. Pawan gives a power packed performance and is especially brilliant in all the confrontation scenes with Prakash Raj. He successfully manages to convince us with his thought provoking suggestions, and does not make it sound too preachy. Prakash Raj is at his usual best and gives tough competition to Pawan Kalyan.

Tamanna looks cute and plays her part well. Second half and a gripping climax are some major highlights of the film. One comedy scene between Brahmanandam and Pawan Kayan where they read the daily news is hilarious. Tamanna and Pawan Kalyan’s interactive scenes and comedy have been written nicely. Dharmavarapu, M S Narayan and Ali play their parts well. Pawan Kalyan’s philosophy about women is hilarious, and also gets a huge response from the audience.

Minus Points:

First half of the movie is a bit slow and only shapes up well by the interval. Some characters could have been designed well, and the movie gets slightly predictable from the start of second half. Gabriel, who does the role of a TV channel head fails to impress whatsoever. There is no much story idea in the film as Puri depends highly on the performance of stars. If Puri Jagan could have added some more masala and entrainment in the first half, CMGR’s effect could have been far better.

Technical Aspects:

Puri’s films are always known for some gripping dialogues, and even with CMGR he does not disappoint. They are very catchy, witty and highly thought provoking. Puri’s screenplay is the heart of the film, and makes you stick to the screen.

It’s really interesting to see how Puri Jangan manages to intervene ironical problems in the society, with the current trend in the public. Camera work is really decent and so is the editing. Puri nicely depicts the role of the media by sometimes criticizing, and even defending it right throughout.

Verdict:

On the whole CMGR is one film which has Pawan Kalyan’s stamp all over it. His power packed performance and star power, only make this film more interesting. Stunning performances, gripping climax are sure shot positives. On the flip side, a slow paced first half and a predictable story line are some weak points. Finally, if one can leave behind the ‘Gabbar Singh’ effect, and watch CMGR with no expectations, you would surely love this political potboiler.
