Review : Niratharam Nee Oohale – Nightmare for viewers

The trend of dubbing Tamil films to Telugu doesn’t seem to end anytime soon and this week we saw the release of Niratharam Nee Oohale . Originally made as Muppozhudhum Un Karpanaigal in Tamil, this film has Aadharvaa and Amala Paul in lead roles. Music of the film was composed by G V Prakash and Elred Kumar has directed this movie. The film was touted to be a romantic thriller. Let’s see how it fares.

Story:

Ram(Atharvaa) moves to Hyderabad to pursue his job, leaving his mother alone in his village. Impressed by his work, Ram is promoted and sent on a special project work to Bangalore. He meets Charulata(Amala Paul) in the project, and gets along well with her. Ram’s mother is deeply saddened by Ram’s absence and eventually dies because of a prolonged illness. Ram is devastated with this news and Charulata consoles him during the course of his troubled times. Ram falls in love with Charulata and plans to propose to her, at the end of the project. As things unfold some unexpected events happen and destiny takes Ram and Cahrulata apart. Rest of the story is how the couple mange to finally unite among all the unexpected twists and turns in their life.

Plus Points:

After receiving critical appreciation for her role in Mynaa, Amala Paul seems to be concentrating only on glamor oriented roles these days. She wants to be seen more as a glamor girl and this movie proves it it right. Chinmayi’s dubbed voice for Amala suits well for her character. Anupama Kumar’s role as Ram’s mother in the film is quite good. The movie has been shot lavishly and two songs Okapari and Kanneeraina look visually good in the film. First half of the film is just about OK and nothing else is a plus in this film.

Minus Points:

As the story unfolds, nothing seems to go right in this film. Aadharva, son of Tamil star Murali, seems to have concentrated on the fight and dance sequences in the film. His facial expressions, dance movements and acting are big let down for this film. Santhanam’s comedy is over the top and highly irritating. Director Elred Kumar has been highly inspired by an English film, which is quiet evident in  Niratharam Nee Oohale. This film lacks pace and does not have any interesting moments whatsoever.

Technical Aspects:

Only good thing about the movie is the cinematography by Sakthi. Two songs Okapari and Kanneraina are shot beautifully and are a bit hummable too. Background score by G V Prakash in some scenes is pretty good. Movie has rich production values and is shot beautifully overall. Action is over the top, as all the fight sequences are unimaginable and create a discomfort to the viewer.

Verdict:

On the whole,  Niratharam Nee Oohale is one film which has too many things gone wrong. All the dubbed films  which released this year have been duds at the box office, and this film will continue that trend. Bad acting skills, miserable direction and some over the top sequences are big set backs for this film. So just ignore  Niratharam Nee Oohale this week, and if you are still keen to watch Amala Paul, please wait for the movie to be aired on TV.
