Continuing with the trend of small budget films, the latest one to join the list is Sitara. Starring Ravi Babu in a pivotal role, this movie has hit the screens today. Let’s now see how the movie turns out to be.

Story:

Raghuram (Ravi babu) is a popular director who plans a movie with all newcomers. In this process, he comes across Sitara (Ravaneeth Kour) and feels that she would be the perfect fit and selects her.

During the film’s shoot, Raghuram falls in love with Sitara but to his bad luck, Sitara falls in love with the hero(Ashwin). Knowing this, a jealous Raghuram starts behaving in a dreadful manner with her.

Twist in the tale arises when Sitara gets killed on the sets in a doubtful manner. Did she get killed or committed suicide ? Is Raghuram Involved in this ? That forms the rest of the story.

Plus Points :

The concept of the film is nice. First 15 to 20 minutes of the film are quite engaging. Screenplay of the film which showcases two parallel stories is the major highlight of this movie. The climax is not bad. Ravi Babu is a huge asset for the film with his versatile acting. He is very successful in his part.

Ravaneeth Kour looks glamorous and provides the necessary oomph factor. Krishna Bhagavan provides much entertainment with his comedy punches and Chitram Srinu also tries to evoke some laughs.

Minus points :

Direction is the major drawback of this movie. There was a lot of scope to make this film as an engaging thriller, but the director failed in his execution. Even though the screenplay is good, the movie is quite predictable after 15 to 20 minutes.

There are so many unnecessary scenes which come in the middle of the movie. Except Ravi Babu’s character, every other character lacks depth. All the songs in the film becomes speed breakers for the proceedings.

Technical aspects :

Cinematography is decent and the shots are nicely captured. The director lacks clarity in his execution and failed to bring the required emotions in most of the scenes. The revealing of story using another film and ending it with three other movies are good.

Coming to the music, not even a single song is good, but the background score is not bad. Nandamuri Hari’s editing is very dull. Production values looks good.

Verdict :

On the whole, Sitara lacks depth in the story and completely deviates from its plot with many unnecessary scenes. The only grace points for the film are Ravi Babu’s acting, first 15 minutes and some comedy scenes. Except these, there is hardly anything in this movie. Watch it when the DVD’s are out.
