Gedela Raju-Kakinada Taluka is the latest Telugu crime action drama starring Raghu Kunche in the lead role. Helmed by Chaitanya Moturi, the movie hit the big screens today, showcasing a gritty tale of crime and vengeance. Here is a detailed review to see whether this cinematic attempt hits the mark or misses its target.

Story:

Set in Kakinada, the film revolves around Bhagavanth Raju, alias Gedela Raju (Raghu Kunche), a notorious rowdy-sheeter and womaniser with political ambitions. While aggressively campaigning to become a local municipal corporator, he is suddenly murdered by an unknown assailant. As the police begin their investigation, they discover that many people harbored deep grudges against him. The story then follows the investigation as it attempts to reveal the identity of the killer.

Plus Points:

The film opens on an interesting note, setting up a decent premise that hints at a gripping whodunnit. The initial portions manage to hold attention with a steady narrative flow.

Raghu Kunche delivers a convincing performance, effectively capturing the menace and complexity of his character. Vikas Muppala and Ravi Anand provide decent support, with Ravi Anand standing out in a few key moments.

Minus Points:

Despite a promising setup, the film struggles to sustain its momentum. The screenplay lacks cohesion, resulting in a disjointed and emotionally flat narrative.

Several supporting characters are underdeveloped, which weakens the impact of the multi-perspective storytelling.

The inclusion of songs further disrupts the flow, making the pacing feel uneven and, at times, unnecessarily prolonged.

Technical Aspects:

Director Chaitanya Moturi attempts to build a tense investigative drama, but the inconsistent screenplay holds the film back. Raghu Kunche’s music works in parts, offering brief relief, but does not leave a lasting impression.

The editing by Sudheer Yedla feels abrupt in places, affecting narrative continuity. Sai Kumar Dara’s cinematography is functional but does little to enhance the film’s mood or visual appeal.

Verdict:

On the whole, Gedela Raju-Kakinada Taluka is a largely disappointing crime drama that lacks a compelling standout element. Raghu Kunche’s contributions as both an actor and composer are respectable, but they are not enough to save a hollow script. The movie struggles with poor pacing and a lack of narrative punch, making it a difficult watch for most viewers. Given the available options, there are much better ways to spend your time this weekend.
