The big-ticket entertainer Aadarsha Kutumbam House No. 47 – AK47 hits theatres today. Director Trivikram Srinivas and “Victory” Venkatesh have worked together on three films before, but this is their first time teaming up as director and lead actor. Here is our review to see how the movie fares.

Story:

Chitti Babu Thotti (Venkatesh), his wife Swarna Thotti (Srinidhi Shetty), and their children struggle to manage their lives amid mounting debts. Their fortunes take a turn when they suddenly win a Rs. 100 crore lottery and buy a villa worth Rs. 20 crore. However, their happiness doesn’t last long as a Bihar-based dacoit gang, known for committing crimes for money, sets its sights on the newly wealthy family. What happens next forms the rest of the story.

Plus Points:

Venkatesh is in his element. A middle-class character with a mass appeal and a comic touch is a tailor-made role for him, and he delivers it effortlessly. He also shines in the action scenes. Srinidhi Shetty does a good job, especially with her comic timing. Trivikram’s writing also helps in shaping her character well.

The kids, Raja Prajwal and Yuvina Parthavi, are equally good. Satya’s comedy is another positive aspect that makes the movie enjoyable. Raghu Babu, Rao Ramesh, Deviyani Sharma and Aakash Srinivas also do their parts well.

The first half is well-written and balances comedy and action nicely. The interval action sequence is a major highlight. The twist in the second half also clears the doubts about whether the story has similarities to a recent blockbuster.

Thaman’s background score works well, adding to the impact of important moments. The film takes the lead characters through an emotional journey in a fun way, which is another familiar touch of Trivikram’s writing.

Minus Points:

Coming to the characters, Nivetha Pethuraj has very little to do in the story. Seeing such a talented actress in a role with hardly any scope is a bit disappointing. Nara Rohith is just okay, but a more notable actor could have done better. Udaybir Sandhu gets a good role, but a stronger performance could have added more impact to the drama. Brahmaji is also not utilised properly.

The story itself is not particularly engaging, though it manages to maintain a decent flow. The screenplay keeps things moving. However, the emotional scenes that the director tries to establish don’t work effectively and feel artificial. A stronger emotional background could have helped audiences connect with these moments.

The second half opens with a twist but doesn’t maintain the same flow, with a few hiccups along the way. It manages to hold together, but doesn’t match the impact of the first half. The songs also don’t add much to the movie.

Technical Aspects:

Director and writer Trivikram delivers the film in his familiar style, with his trademark comedy and action blended into the story. However, a little more focus on the emotional portions could have taken the movie to another level.

Navin Nooli’s editing is surprisingly good in the first half but stumbles in the second half. Overall, his work is decent. Thaman scores well with the background music, but his songs don’t add much charm to the film. The ‘Narayanamma’ song, in particular, feels unnecessary.

Kevin Kumar’s action choreography in the interval sequence gives a satisfying feel. Ravi K Chandran’s cinematography is decent, and so are the production values.

Verdict:

On the whole, Aadarsha Kutumbam House No. 47 is a decent entertainer. The first half works really well, thanks to the healthy comedy from Venkatesh, Srinidhi Shetty, and Satya. The interval episode is a major highlight. However, the less impressive second half, underwritten characters, and lack of strong emotional moments make the film a bit dull in places. Despite these shortcomings, it is an entertaining family watch, offering a decent mix of fun and action.

Sundarakanda, the latest Telugu romantic comedy, features Nara Rohith, Sridevi Vijaykumar, and Virti Vaghani in lead roles. Directed by Venkatesh Nimmalapudi, the film hit the screens today. Let’s see how it fares.

Story:

Siddharth (Nara Rohith) has everything in life but refuses to marry because no woman matches the five qualities he insists on in his partner. One day, he comes across a college girl, Aira (Virti Vaghani), who sparks his curiosity. Determined to find out if she fits his checklist, he travels to Vizag in search of her. After a few interactions, he proposes, and though hesitant due to the age gap, Aira agrees. However, Siddharth soon faces an unexpected revelation that changes the course of his love story. Why has he remained single all these years? What exactly are the five principles he clings to? And who is Vaishnavi (Sridevi Vijaykumar), and what role does she play in this tale? These questions form the crux of the narrative.

Plus Points:

After his intense role in Bhairavam, Nara Rohith slips into a lighter character that suits him well. He handles comedy with ease and delivers effectively in the emotional portions of the second half.

Virti Vaghani gets a well-written role and makes the most of it. She delivers a confident performance, particularly in her emotional exchanges with Rohith. If she continues to pick strong scripts, she has a promising future.

Sridevi Vijaykumar looks graceful and plays her part with dignity. Her role carries weight in the story, and she executes it naturally without overdoing anything.

Satya’s comedy adds a good dose of entertainment, and his timing works well. Vasuki Anand as Rohith’s sister is apt, while Sunaina Badam and Abhinav Gomatam make their presence felt.

The interval twist stands out as a major plus. It arrives as a genuine surprise and keeps the audience engaged in the second half as well. The director manages to handle both halves neatly, maintaining curiosity even after revealing the twist.

Minus Points:

While the setup is engaging, the core story feels familiar and reminds us of a Bollywood film. After the interval, the proceedings could have been more heartfelt and layered, but the director leans more towards comedy than emotion.

Some sequences go overboard or feel preachy, which might test the patience of those expecting breezy entertainment. A few cinematic liberties stretch believability, and certain supporting characters, like Naresh and Abhinav Gomatam, are underutilized — their presence could have added more fun.

Technical Aspects:

For a debutant, Venkatesh Nimmalapudi handles the film with decent control. He maintains a good flow and ensures there are no dull stretches for the most part.

Pradeesh Varma’s cinematography is adequate, while Rohan Chillale’s editing is sharp though a bit more trimming could have improved the pace. Production values are solid, and the costume design by Harsha and Poojitha Tadikonda deserves praise for the vibrant styling, especially in Virti’s outfits.

Music by Leon James is one of the film’s biggest assets. The songs are well-placed, and at least a couple of them stand out. His background score also elevates key moments.

Verdict:

On the whole, Sundarakanda is a watchable romantic comedy that works mainly because of its lead performances and humor. Nara Rohith fits well into his role, Virti Vaghani delivers a strong performance, and Sridevi Vijaykumar adds grace. Satya’s comedy is another highlight. On the downside, the predictable story, a few unnecessary scenes, and some over-the-top moments dilute the impact. Still, with clean entertainment and no vulgarity, it is a safe family watch. This festive season, Sundarakanda can be considered a lighthearted option for those looking for a simple comedy ride in theaters.
