Save The Tigers is back with a brand new season, and the third installment is now streaming on JioHotstar. The lovely couples Priyadarshi and Jordaar Sujatha, Abhinav Gomatam and Pavani Gangireddy, and Krishna Chaitanya alongside Deviyani Sharma return to bring another round of chaos, emotions and comedy. Story:

After the chaos surrounding actress Hamsalekha (Seerat Kapoor), Ghanta Ravi (Priyadarshi) moves with his family to a new community. Rahul (Abhinav Gomatam) finds himself stuck in a job he hates, while Vikram (Chaitanya Krishna) struggles to move on from his divorce. Frustrated with how their lives have turned out, the trio reunites and questions Lord Indra (Vennela Kishore). Determined to give them a fresh start, Indra tasks Chitragupta (Gundu Sudarshan) with setting things right. Arriving on Earth with an unexpected proposal, Chitragupta offers the three friends a life-changing deal. Will they accept it, and what consequences will follow? The answers unfold in the latest chapter of their journey.

Plus Points:

Save The Tigers S3 gets a new director in Sriraam Eragam, but the shift is hardly noticeable as the series retains the same flavour that made the first two seasons popular. The biggest strength of the new season is that it never forgets its primary purpose, which is to keep the audience engaged with light-hearted fun.

The fantasy angle adds freshness to the proceedings and opens the door for several entertaining moments. Priyadarshi and Abhinav Gomatam are dependable as always and deliver exactly what is expected of them. However, the biggest surprise this time is Krishna Chaitanya. His portrayal of a frustrated man dealing with personal issues results in some of the season’s best moments. His attire, expressions, dialogue delivery and body language work very well, making him the standout performer of the show.

Jordaar Sujatha, Pavani Gangireddy and Deviyani Sharma are good in their respective roles and contribute effectively to the narrative. Deviyani Sharma gets a noticeably different character this time around and handles it with ease. Her innocent nature and fearful attitude towards her husband generate a few amusing moments.

Rohini once again proves to be one of the major assets of the series. Her comic timing is spot on and many of her scenes land perfectly. She particularly shines in the climax portions. Gundu Sudarshan performs his role well, while the emotional moments woven into the narrative also work for the most part and prevent the show from becoming one dimensional.

Minus Points:

While the season succeeds in generating plenty of laughs, the excessive use of cuss words and repeated references to adultery may not go down well with family audiences. Considering the franchise enjoys a wide family following, these aspects could have been toned down.

The middle portion suffers from pacing issues. A couple of episodes feel stretched and certain situations continue longer than necessary. A tighter screenplay would have made the viewing experience more engaging.

Vennela Kishore gets an interesting role, but his potential is not fully utilised. Given his strengths as a performer, a few additional scenes involving his character could have added more value to the overall proceedings.

Technical Aspects:

Director Sriraam Eragam does a good job of maintaining the spirit of the franchise. Along with the writers, he succeeds in delivering an enjoyable season despite a few pacing issues. The writing works well in several places, particularly during the interactions between the lead characters.

The production values are neat and consistent with the standards set by the previous seasons. Shravan Katikaneni’s editing is decent, though trimming some portions in the middle would have helped. S. V. Vishweshwar’s cinematography serves the story well, while Ajay Arasada’s music complements both the humorous and emotional moments effectively.

Verdict:

On the whole, Save The Tigers Season 3 is a watchable fun series and is elevated by the performances of Priyadarshi, Abhinav Gomatam, and Krishna Chaitanya. The fantasy element brings a fresh twist, and several comedy moments work well. While the middle portions feel a bit stretched and some jokes may not resonate with everyone, the series still delivers enough entertainment. Fans of the previous seasons are likely to find this latest installment an enjoyable weekend watch.

Small-budget comedy drama Mithra Mandali starring Priyadarshi and Niharika NM was promoted well and now the film is out in theatres. Let’s see how it is.

Story:

Chaitanya (Priyadarshi), Satvik (Vishnu Oi), Abhi (Rag Mayuri), and Rajeev (Prasad Behra) are a group of good-for-nothing friends. Abhi and Satvik fall for Swecha (Niharika NM), the daughter of a politician and Chaitanya helps in this process, but little do they know that they all are about to get caught in a deep mess.

Plus Points:

Some fun sequences in both halves work well in isolation. They may not be extraordinary, but the silly moments and the innocence of the four friends bring a smile to your face. The film leans on situational comedy, which clicks to some extent.

The best part of Mithra Mandali is the “Important Character” played by Satya. He has truly become an actor with the Midas touch. Every time Satya appears on screen, he leaves the audience in splits. The concept behind his unique characterization is amusing.

Priyadarshi delivers a good performance in a fun-filled role. Vishnu Oi, Rag Mayur, and Prasad Behra try their best to generate laughs, even when the writing doesn’t fully back them. Niharika NM is decent in her portrayal.

Minus Points:

Mithra Mandali is a Jathi Ratnalu-esque comedy drama, but what worked well for the latter were the non-stop punches despite the silly nature of the story. Mithra Mandali doesn’t have enough meat to hold our attention throughout and also slips into boredom after a certain point.

At the beginning, the makers mentioned that the film doesn’t have a story, but that self-aware satirical quote doesn’t click, as the humor doesn’t fully land. When there isn’t a reasonable plotline to buy into, the film should weave magic with its narrative and make us forget the flaws without giving any breathing space.

The second half, in particular, is dragged unnecessarily, and the momentum drops heavily here as the film goes off track. The editing is below par, making the movie feel lengthy despite the runtime being short.

The fun moments are scattered in both halves, but the film doesn’t have a strong screenplay to bind those scenes together. At times, the comedy feels forced, and the writing could have been much better.

Technical Aspects:

RR Dhruvan’s songs and background score are quirky in nature which aligns well with the film’s theme. Siddharth J’s cinematography is decent and so are the production values. The editing isn’t satisfactory.

Coming to director Vijayender S, he did a below par job with the film. While a few moments show promise, there is still a lot left to be desired. The comedy is a mixed big in Mithra Mandali. The second half lacks a clear direction, making the film lose its grip.

Verdict:

On the whole, Mithra Mandali tries to be a wacky entertainer but doesn’t quite succeed in its attempt. While there are a few fun-inducing moments, the movie largely bores and lacks a strong narrative to hold everything together. Priyadarshi and the rest of the cast try their best to entertain, but the underwhelming writing and a dragged-out second half keep it very far from satisfactory.

Sarangapani Jathakam is a new Telugu comedy entertainer featuring Priyadarshi, Roopa Koduvayur, and Vennela Kishore in prominent roles. Directed by Mohanakrishna Indraganti, the film hits theaters today. Read on for our review to see how it fares.

Story:

Sarangapani (Priyadarshi), a car salesman, strongly believes in palmistry and is convinced that everything in life is driven by fate. He falls for his practical and logical superior, Maithili (Roopa Koduvayur), and the two get engaged. Just when everything seems to be going perfectly, a cheiromantist named Jogeshwar (Srinivas Avasarala) predicts that Sarangapani will commit a crime in the future. Shaken by this, Sarangapani makes a critical decision in the hope of safeguarding his future with Maithili. What exactly does he do? Does the prediction come true? Is Maithili aware of it? How does his friend Chandra (Vennela Kishore) react? And what role does Ahobila (Tanikella Bharani) play in all this? These questions unfold as the story progresses.

Plus Points:

After playing a serious lawyer in Court, Priyadarshi returns to his forte, comedy, and delivers a charming performance as Sarangapani. His portrayal of a superstitious yet lovable man is relatable and engaging, and his comic timing is impeccable.

Vennela Kishore brings in his trademark humour with brilliant expressions and witty lines, especially in his scenes with Priyadarshi.

Viva Harsha, who enters in the second half, adds to the fun with his innocent and quirky performance. The trio’s chemistry lifts the film’s second half, offering some genuinely entertaining moments.

Roopa Koduvayur looks graceful and plays her part well. The supporting cast, including Naresh and Devika, contribute decently to the narrative. The comedy dialogues are cleverly written and work well when delivered by the right performers.

Minus Points:

While the core concept is interesting, the storytelling could have been more unpredictable to keep the audience fully engaged. Director Mohanakrishna Indraganti had the scope to add more twists and layers to elevate the comedy and suspense.

The second half starts off fine but dips in pace before picking up again. A tighter narrative in this portion would have made a big difference.

Tanikella Bharani, though a respected actor, is underutilised by the director. In films like Ami Tumi, he played a crucial and hilarious role, but here, he doesn’t get much to do.

Also, the inclusion of a few cuss words feels out of place, especially coming from Indraganti, who is usually known for clean, family-friendly humour. The climax feels rushed and lacks the impact needed for a satisfying finish.

Technical Aspects:

Mohanakrishna Indraganti handles the comedy portions well and delivers some fun moments, but a little more attention to the second half’s execution would’ve helped.

PG Vinda’s cinematography is visually appealing, and Vivek Sagar’s music suits the film’s light-hearted tone. Editing by Marthand K. Venkatesh is decent, although a few scenes could have been trimmed for better pace. Production values are good.

Verdict:

On the whole, Sarangapani Jathakam is a light, enjoyable comedy that works largely due to its performances and humorous moments. Priyadarshi once again proves his comedic strength, supported by Vennela Kishore and Viva Harsha’s entertaining presence. While the film falters slightly in the second half and rushes to the climax, it still offers a clean, family-friendly watch. This weekend, it’s a decent pick if you’re in the mood for some wholesome laughs.
