Bollywood’s latest romantic drama, Saiyaara, is off to a roaring start at the box office. Despite receiving mixed reactions from critics and audiences, the film’s numbers are soaring, largely fueled by its smart and aggressive pre-release promotions.
Marking the debut of Ahaan Panday, with Aneet Padda as his romantic lead, Saiyaara is directed by Mohit Suri. The film’s performance on BookMyShow has stunned industry watchers. In just 24 hours, it racked up 419,000 ticket sales – more than the opening day and day-two ticket sales of high-profile titles like Housefull 5, Sikandar, and Sitaare Zameen Par.
Even more remarkable: in the last hour alone, the film sold 40,000 tickets, setting a new record for a Bollywood debutant.
Trade experts believe this momentum will carry through the weekend, with Rs. 100 crore expected to be an easy milestone for the Ahaan Panday-led romantic comedy. The film has clearly struck a chord with the youth, even if critical opinions remain divided.
