Q.Why there is no any movie above 50cr budget in our Telugu industry, whereas in tamil, movies are coming above 80,100cr budget. Dont we have big market potential to invest that much money in telugu movies.? – Ramesh
A. The Tamil film industry has always had a bigger market than the Telugu Industry primarily because of the widespread presence of Tamil people across the globe. If you take countries like Malaysia, Singapore and the Middle East, the market for Tamil films in these areas is almost as strong as Tamil Nadu itself. Whereas for Telugu films, USA has been the single biggest market apart from Andhra Pradesh all these years. Only now, Telugu movies are seeing serious business in Australia, UK, Singapore and other territories. Also, Tamil films of stars like Rajinikanth, Kama Haasan,Vikram, Ajith, Surya and Karthi have large markets in Andhra Pradesh too. So Tamil Films can afford to spend more. But we are catching up and hopefully, we should be able to expand our markets as well.
