It is a known fact that there is a tussle going on between the south Indian film producers and digital service providers Qube and UFO regarding the exorbitant rates that are being charged by the DSP’s during film releases.
The producers union formed a joint action committee and have been holding discussions with the heads of these digital service providers for quite some time now.
The committee already met in Hyderabad and discussed a few important points recently. Further today, another meeting was held in Chennai and the latest we hear is that the talks between Joint Action Committee, comprised of all bodies from South Indian Film Industry and digital service providers Qube & UFO have failed with no solution coming out.
So, the joint action committee has decided that there will be no film release in South India. The producers and distributors will not give content to Qube & UFO from the 2nd March 2018.
We need to see how the DSP’s react to this and whether an amicable solution comes out for this problem.
