From star-driven entertainers and promising debuts to fresh collaborations and pan-Indian spectacles, nearly every week has something to look forward to. Throw in a handful of exciting promotional events, and the month promises to keep movie buffs engaged well beyond the Friday releases.
Aug 7 – A Busy Start to August
The action gets underway on August 7, with Varun Tej’s Korean Kanakaraju taking centre stage. The horror-comedy carries considerable expectations and could prove to be a make-or-break outing for the actor. If the film clicks with audiences, it has every chance of putting him back in the game.
Sharing the release window is Anakapalli, written and produced by Thrinadha Rao Nakkina. Starring Vikram Sahidev, Sandhya Vasishta and Tarak Ponnappa, the film will be looking to hold its own amid the crowded box-office race.
Another film hoping to leave a mark is KJQ – King Jackie Queen, which marks the acting debut of Shashi Odela, brother of director Srikanth Odela. Produced by SLV Cinemas, the crime drama pairs Dheekshith Shetty with Yukti Thareja, making it one of the more intriguing newcomers of the month.

Backed by Naga Vamsi and featuring Mamitha Baiju as the female lead, the film enters theatres with plenty riding on it. A successful outing would also help Suriya extend his recent winning run.
Joining the August 14 lineup is Agadha, a divine mystical horror thriller that marks M.S. Raju’s return to the director’s chair. With Kamakshi Bhaskarla in the lead, the film has quietly built curiosity among audiences.
The same day also sees the arrival of Pallaburusu, a comedy-drama directed by Uday Chauhan and starring Sudhakar Reddy and Muralidhar Goud. The backing of Annapurna Studios has added to the film’s visibility ahead of its release.

Unlike his routine commercial entertainers, the film is expected to showcase the actor in a different light, making it one of the most crucial releases of his recent career. Interestingly, August could well turn into a defining month for both Ravi Teja and Varun Tej, with both actors banking on these films to script a strong comeback.
Aug 26 – All Roads Lead to Toxic
The month’s biggest attraction, however, arrives on August 26 with Yash’s Toxic. Delayed but never out of the spotlight, the film remains one of the most anticipated pan-Indian releases in recent years. Marking Yash’s return to the big screen four years after the blockbuster success of KGF: Chapter 2, Toxic heads into theatres amid sky-high expectations. With its trailer set to launch this Saturday, the buzz surrounding the film is only expected to intensify.

August isn’t just about theatrical releases. Several promotional events are expected to dominate conversations throughout the month.
The celebrations begin with the teaser of Nani’s The Paradise, set to be unveiled on August 6. Director Srikanth Odela’s confident description of the film as “wildfire” has only fuelled anticipation.
