Lakshya is up for a release this week and on this occasion, we met the film’s producers Narayan K Das Narang and Puskur Ram Mohan Rao. Here is the transcript.
Tell us about the success of Love Story?
Right from the beginning, we believed in the film and it paid rich dividends. We also made good money and thank Shekhar Kammula for giving us such a big hit. Now, we are ready with Lakshya, which is yet another honest film from our banner.
How did this project Lakshya materialize?
When we heard the story, we found it quite challenging. The game of archery was never showcased before in a film. But when we sent the story to Shourya, he said okay right away. This gave us a lot of confidence and we decided to co-produce it with Sharath Marar.
Tell us about the release of the film?
We are releasing this film in close to 250 theaters in Telugu states. Overseas, the film will be out on close to 100 screens. Not many know that the satellite and OTT rights of the film were sold out two years back only. Post the reception to Akhanda, we are quite confident that the audience will surely love this unique sports drama.
Your take on the ticket rates in AP?
Yes, that has become an issue for everyone in the industry. How will we survive if the rates are so less? We have approached the AP government and hopefully, they will help us with our issues. Now, the theaters are superb and have solid facilities. With such low ticket rates, we cannot continue if the rates are so low.
Your expectation on the result of Lakshya?
The film will impress everyone as per our expectations. It is not just a sports drama and has all the necessary commercial aspects. Ketika Sharma, solid music, and good fights are basic highlights of the film.
Future projects?
We have films lined up with Dhanush, Siva Karthikeyan, Nagarjuna, and Sundeep Kishan’s film with Vijay Sethupathi is on floors as of now. Apart from this, we also have a film with hero Sudheer Babu that will be directed by Harshvardhan.
