Director Mysskin’s strong praise for Karthik Subbaraj’s Dorothy has become a talking point on social media. Speaking at the film’s thanks meet, Mysskin boldly compared the movie with Christopher Nolan’s blockbuster The Odyssey.
Mysskin said Dorothy is 100 times better than The Odyssey, stressing that artistic brilliance matters more than a film’s massive box-office collections. He also recalled watching Karthik’s earlier film and finding it boring, but said Dorothy completely changed his opinion of the filmmaker.
Praising Karthik’s cinematic craft, Mysskin compared his admiration for the director to his devotion to music maestro Ilaiyaraaja. He even joked that he would have a couple of drinks with Karthik at the office and then fall at his feet to express his respect.
However, Mysskin’s comparison has also drawn mixed reactions online. While some appreciated his passionate praise, others felt that saying Dorothy is 100 times better than The Odyssey was an over-the-top comparison and mocked him for it.
Dorothy marks Karthik Subbaraj’s 10th directorial, with music composed by Ilaiyaraaja. Rishikanth, Sanathan and Keerthy Suresh play the lead roles in the drama.
