Gone are the days when leading OTT platforms used to shell out huge amounts to acquire the digital streaming rights to medium and high budgeted Tollywood movies. Even the movies featuring several A-list stars have been facing the same fate, and the situation has not improved much since last year.
However, the latest buzz in the film circles shows a ray of hope. Apparently, streaming giant Netflix has acquired the OTT rights to young hero Siddhu Jonnalagadda’s two upcoming movies by inking lucrative deals with the producers. Siddhu’s Tillu Square and the as-yet-untitled under-production film being directed by Bommarillu Bhaskar have been acquired by Netflix for a hefty price.
Tillu Square is a sequel to Siddhu’s blockbuster comedy thriller, DJ Tillu. The film is scheduled for release on March 29. On the other hand, the Siddhu Jonnalagadda-Bommarillu Bhaskar film will be hitting theaters later this year.
