Pa. Ranjith and Arya’s Sarpatta Parambarai earned widespread critical acclaim after premiering directly on Amazon Prime Video in 2021. The success led the makers to announce a prequel, titled Sarpatta Parambarai: Round 2, in 2023.
After three years of the announcement, the much-awaited project has finally gone on floors. The makers took to social media today to announce that filming has begun, marking the start of the next chapter in the Sarpatta Parambarai universe.
Expectations are high for the film, which brings back several familiar faces from the original. Dushara Vijayan as Mariyamma, Pasupathy as Rangan Vaathiyar, John Kokken as Vembuli and Shabeer Kallarakkal as Dancing Rose are set to reprise their respective roles, alongside the rest of the cast.
The film is produced by Girish Mathrubootham, Pa. Ranjith and Sayyeshaa. Santhosh Narayanan is also expected to return as the composer, although an official confirmation on the music department is awaited.
