The ongoing tensions between Telugu film producers and exhibitors are expected to take center stage today as the Telugu Film Chamber of Commerce prepares to hold a crucial meeting aimed at resolving the industry wide deadlock.
Headed by Film Chamber President D. Suresh Babu, the discussions will primarily focus on the proposed shift from the existing fixed rental system to a percentage based revenue sharing model. The controversial OTT release window issue will also be discussed, as exhibitors continue to demand a longer gap between theatrical and digital releases to protect box office revenues.
A 10 member team representing the Telangana and Andhra Pradesh Exhibitors Associations will attend the meeting. On the other side, three key members from the Producers Guild are expected to represent the concerns of producers and filmmakers.
Senior producer C. Kalyan reportedly described the current situation as highly sensitive, stating that the growing differences between exhibitors and producers need immediate attention. With several big Telugu films gearing up for release this summer, the industry is hoping for a mutually beneficial solution that avoids further complications.
The issue has gained even more attention in recent days after a few industry personalities exchanged sharp remarks publicly. By stepping in to mediate the matter, the Telugu Film Chamber is aiming to restore balance and bring both sides to a common understanding.
