Ram Charan’s most awaited pan-Indian rural sports drama, Peddi, is gearing up for a grand theatrical release on June 4, 2026. Directed by Buchi Babu Sana, the film is said to be a deeply emotional story that focuses more on human relationships and drama than the sport itself.

In a recent interview with CNN-News18, veteran actor Boman Irani revealed an exciting detail about the film’s opening sequence. According to him, the story begins with India celebrating the achievement of winning two Olympic gold medals. However, Tinnu Anand’s character, a senior Sports Authority of India official, remains unhappy with the tally and questions Irani’s character about the country’s poor performance in sports.

Following the confrontation, Irani’s character begins searching for answers and eventually comes across the legendary story of Peddi, played by Ram Charan. This setup reportedly leads into the film’s major flashback portion, where Peddi is introduced as a celebrated crossover athlete from Uttarandhra.

The revelation has increased curiosity among audiences, who are now eager to see how Peddi’s journey connects with the larger Olympic backdrop. With strong buzz already surrounding the film, Peddi is shaping up to be one of the most anticipated releases of the year.

Janhvi Kapoor plays the female lead, while Shiva Rajkumar, Divyenndu Sharma, and Jagapathi Babu appear in key roles. Backed by Vriddhi Cinemas, the film also features music composed by A.R. Rahman.
